Calcium Bone Wrapped Cod Skin
- DETAIL
We take graded-thickness calcium bone, cut it into mouth-sized segments, wind each one in a whole sheet of cod skin, then slow-bake at low temperature until the moisture is drawn almost fully out. The bite comes in two stages: first the tough layer of skin, which takes real grinding on the back teeth to break through; then the hard crispness of the bone underneath, which shaves away layer by layer as they work at it, the raw bone showing through the more they chew. The bone supplies natural bone-source calcium and genuine hardness — enough to keep a medium or large dog busy for tens of minutes. The skin supplies collagen, omega-3s, and that savoury note of ocean fish, and it is exactly that aroma that makes them lick, then bite, then settle into a slow chew instead of scooping it up and swallowing whole. Savoury outside, calcium-hard inside: one stick that handles the instinct, the teeth, and the calcium, in a single go.
